Handprint keepsake homemade gift...

Mother's day is only a week away and I have been thinking of ideas for presents for the Nans!  This is the first one I thought of...

A gift of treasured memories of small hands to keep forever! If you would like to know how it is made read on for a Step-by-Step tutorial...

You will need:

  • Salt Dough.  The recipe is here.  We added a few drops of food colouring to ours this time.
  • A cocktail stick
  • A baking tray
  • A small and very cute hand!

STEP ONE

Roll out your dough until it is big enough to fit a hand on easily.

You might want to shape the dough into a heart or another shape at this point if you like but be sure the hand still fits on.

STEP TWO

Get a little hand and press into the dough to make a strong indentation.

STEP THREE

Using your cocktail stick carefully write the name of the child and the year or anything else you like.

STEP FOUR

Put it in an oven on a low heat, 75 degrees Celsius.

These can need a long time to bake in the oven, ours took about 5 hours.

My girls enjoyed this activity today so I thought I would share.
